Saturday, I was supposed to go to work, but was not able to because that was the only time that Bank was free so I decided that I will work on a Sunday instead.... Came Sunday, I was not able to work "again" because i woke up sooo late. Then he said I had to go with him to his share holders' lunch. I was thinking, "It's ok. I can work after lunch. Besides I need to feed my brain." But NO, at two in the afternoon, he had to go to yet another meeting and he said it will be finished by four. It finished at five. Gudlak to me! I am going home next month. I was intending to go home this June for my dad’s birthday. But my officemate (Kob) is on maternity leave which makes our small office too lean to afford another employee’s leave. Kob will be on leave for three months. I was thinking, “Great!  There goes my plan of going home.” But then, Khun Pha, our office help said one lunch hour that July 17 is a holiday and 18 is a Buddhist day, which means that I have no work from 17 to the 20th of July. Sweet! I AM GOING HOME! I am bombarded by changes this year. I am not complaining though, everything is all for the best. We are changing offices, having a new boss, working on a new set of work assignments/projects, enjoying being a first smart puppy owner, helping out on a new company and most of all, being in an entirely different level of “in a relationship”. She informed me that she was not able to get the Alberto sandals that I asked her to buy. It was ok, she said the shop in Cebu no  longer had it in my size and she felt bad as I told her it was on top of my most favourite things (for the moment) list.   I told her to forget about it and informed her that just last night, before I closed the door of my apartment, the number one spot had been replaced with something waaaay much better.    And that is…   Getting my hand kissed.   As practiced by my family and most Filipinos, we kiss on the cheek as a form of greeting. It’s quite convenient. The guy doesn’t have to drive far to go to the girl’s place means no consumption of the ever increasing cost of gasoline. If both are renting apartments, there is a big chunk saved as apartment rent, electricity, water, cable, internet connection bills are cut. Time is also saved which is self explanatory.   And of course, there is the great anonymous saying that “a burden is lighter when shared”.   I went to University of the Philippines Los Banos where most students live in apartments, hostels, boarding houses and dorms. Most of my friends with boyfriends or girlfriends lived together, if not sleeping in each other’s apartment.
